About plainville's hometown connection . . .
The Hometown Connection has been Plainville’s only monthly news publication delivered to over 9,000 homes FREE to the residents since Helen began the paper in 1997 with a diverse group of volunteers who happily took photos, wrote stories, and made sure advertisers were involved in supporting the paper.

The Hometown was established as an alternative to the local publications that didn’t have room for a variety of stories about our churches, schools, senior activities, government information, and just fun features about Plainville.

The format of the paper took a giant leap forward moving from cut, paste and waxing boards to a digital design in 2010. Helen took on the challenge of learning how to navigate a
computer and publishing software with great enthusiasm and, if we’re being honest, sometimes many groans! Her “can do” attitude and boundless energy was an inspiration
for many, as she was recognized as a true voice of Plainville.

Our final tribute to Helen published in March 2024 includes photos, stories and thank-yous from many people who recall fond memories of her. Helen’s spirit of duty and volunteerism is irreplaceable. We say farewell & rest in peace to our friend, mentor and lifelong resident of Plainville with tears in our eyes and a full heart for all she brought to us and her beloved little Town.
